Roni Thornton
Rhonda Thornton, or Roni, as she prefers to be known, has been a colleague and friend of Cynthia Clack since the early eighties, when the two women practiced law in Odessa – often as opposing counsel! Roni’s departure from the area in 1995 resulted in a move to the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex, and created a 17-year gap in time that was finally closed in late 2011.
After retiring from the practice of law in 1998, Roni earned her certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resource Management. She is the Owner and President of haloes-N-horses, Inc., d/b/a hNh Professional Consulting Services, and is a consultant to businesses in need of general HR guidance, compliance auditing, and strategic management.
With business “booming” in the Permian Basin, Roni chose to return to Odessa to work, and she and Cynthia reconnected. Thanks to the excellent work of Cynthia’s staff, there is little need for HR consulting in the law office. Instead, Roni is thrilled to offer her services to Tiger Tale Companies as a multiple “hat-wearer”. She is an assistant wherever needed, an editor, and a creator of smiles and laughter.
Roni is a woman committed to checking off each and every item on her Bucket List:
(1) Performing “Sing for the Cure” at Carnegie Hall in 2002 as a member of The Women’s Chorus of Dallas under the artistic direction of Dr. Timothy Seelig, the current Artistic Director of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus;
(2) Putting the motorcycle endorsement on her driver’s license to good use by owning and riding a bright yellow 2010 CanAm Spyder (she named the Bumble Bee “Sassy Chassis”);
(3) Writing children’s books (From Dusk to Midnight – The Tails of Two Kitties), song lyrics (“Look Closer”, lyrics by Roni Thornton, music by the late Anne Albritton) and recording three choral CD’s;
(4) Riding horseback on a 6-day trail ride throughout the beautifully rugged Arkansas mountains.
Future items on the list are works in progress! Roni is also committed to fulfilling her life’s purpose – That it so easily matches Cynthia’s is a cause of tremendous joy and gratitude in each of Roni’s days.
